Canonical Visitation of Maria Inez Furtado to Málaga

February 22, 2016

We were beginning Lent 2016,” Ash Wednesday…  10th of February and … we were prepared to live a few days of “grace”, the canonical visitation of Maria Inez, and her consultor, Sagrario, to the Daughters of Jesus in Malaga. Truly a gift!

Coincidence? An opportunity? … Simply a “gesture of God” to help us begin this journey of conversion and mercy together.

These are days of special togetherness, where we open our hearts to the whole Congregation in those formal and informal moments of information, of deepening into what we Daughters of Jesus are and do in the places where we are, as well as enjoying those new avenues to the many needs of our world, being thankful for the life being poured out by our Congregation.

The first visit was on the 12th, to the Bishop, the Most Rev. Jesús Catalá. The Superior of the community, Ma. Dolores Giménez, accompanied her.

On Sunday the 14th, the two houses gathered in the Infirmary; we ate together and celebrated different events … Celebrating is something that always helps us.

Ma. Inez, and as a gesture of gift to the community, prepared a “a small token” for the sisters celebrating their birthdays in the month of February. A symbol full of meaning …

Just as there was an advanced gift for those celebrating their Golden Jubilee this year. In those presents were included each and every one of the Daughters of Jesus in Malaga.

And we… we offered her some gifts: books, movies, etc. and, above all, the hope that the Lord will continue accompanying her in this important moment in our history. We appreciate her dedication and support.

They also had the opportunity to walk around Málaga, the Cathedral, the Port, Gibralfaro, promenade … the center of the city. Moments of rest and knowing this land open to the sea and replete with God’s gifts …

Thus passed the days, and on the 18th, Thursday, we met once more, and in an atmosphere of conviviality, during tea-cum-dinner, again in the Infirmary, we bade goodbye to Ma. Inez and Sagrario, who had visited the School, through different meetings with the teachers and teams…

On the 19th they continued the journey to Sevilla, where other sisters and realities were waiting for that encounter which undoubtedly helps us grow in the “union of hearts and minds”.

THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!!
