People, the most valuable figures of the annual report of Caritas Spain

September 27, 2016

“Our most valuable figures are the people who have entrusted their life to us, those together with whom we have created new opportunities and hope.” These words of the president of Caritas Spain, Rafael del Rio Sendino, sum up the true face of the data collected in the 2015 Annual Report of the Confederation, which was presented this morning in Madrid.
In it, Caritas gives an account of the destination of 328.6 million euros invested in its various social programs by 70 diocesan Caritas in the country, which have enabled the accompaniment of more than 4 million people in Spain as well as in the countries of the world hardest hit by inequality.
Together with the president, the event counted on the interventions of Monsignor Atilano Rodriguez, Bishop of Siguenza-Guadalajara and head of Caritas within the CEPS (Episcopal Commission for Social Pastoral), and Sebastián Mora, secretary general of the Confederation.
The 2015 Annual Report of Caritas Spain reflects the commitment to fight poverty and inequality, unfolding through a network of more than 6,000 parish Caritas spread throughout the state and which has been consolidated in recent years, both in what refers to the volume of resources invested as well as to the support of an increasingly broad social base.

84,000 volunteers and 328 million euros invested
This is confirmed by the number of 83,712 volunteers who have supported the action of Caritas in 2015 (2% more than in 2014) and 328,642,469 euros invested (which grew by 7.5% over the previous year), 72.39% of which come from private contributions and 27.61% from public funds.
Thanks to the commitment of volunteers, partners and donors, it has been possible to generate hope for many people in difficult situations. Specifically, the actions of Caritas have reached a total of 4,053,743 people, of which 1,974,358 are in Spain and the other 2,079,385 in international cooperation projects developed in the five continents.
