Resurrection Sunday, Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life

April 13, 2022

“Then the other disciple also went in,

who had come first to the tomb;

He saw and believed”. Jn 20

We begin by acclaiming Jesus as he entered Jerusalem and end with another acclamation, which is that of Easter Sunday. They are very different. This is the one who has gone through death and now lives.

If Passion needs time, assimilating Easter, the passage from death to life, assuming the life of the Risen One as He resurrected will need much more.

Mary of Magdala believes that they have taken him to another place: “They have taken the Lord from the tomb and we do not know where they have put him.”

Peter sees only what is there: “he saw the linen cloths laid out and the shroud with which his head had been covered, not with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a separate place”.

Only the beloved disciple “saw and believed”.

Lord Jesus, teach us to follow you closely. Enlighten the eyes of our hearts so that, seeing, we may discover you; so that, seeing, we may know where you and your Kingdom are… and follow you ever more closely.
