“Spreading” the Charism of Government

February 7, 2021

MEETING OF THE GENERAL GOVERNMENT WITH THE PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENTS OF THE CONGREGATION

On February 1 and 2, we held the first meeting, in this six-year term, of the General Government with the Provincial Governments of the Congregation and the Delegate of Mozambique. Currently, there are five provinces of the entire Congregation: Andean America, East Asia, Brazil-Caribbean, Spain-Italy, and the Indian-Pacific.

The objective of the meeting was for us to get to know each other, identify faces, share the life of the Congregation, enjoy its diversity, go beyond the borders of our own province, open ourselves to the universal Body.

The Superior General expressed two wishes in her convocation:

– That we do not come to this meeting worried or stressed about what we will have to do. Rather, it is a space where we encourage ourselves together so that we can animate the life of our provinces; a place where we spread the charism and charism of government.

– “To walk synodically”, the path to which Pope Francis is constantly inviting us.

The organization of these two days was as follows: The two hours of February 1 were dedicated to the presentation and knowledge of the provincial governments:

Opening prayer with the texts of the liturgy of the day.

Presentation of each government team (people, teams, countries …).

Presentation of the general government.

The meeting on February 2, which coincided with the day of Consecrated Life, was an opportunity to give thanks for the gift of one’s own vocation and that of the sisters, whom we serve in this office. It was like that from the opening sentence.

Then, after each one contemplated the reality of their province, they shared:

The most important in each Province

What most helps, animates, encourages, to go ahead in what is entrusted.

At the end of the day, one feels that the objective has been achieved: we have met, we have learned about the provincial governments of the Congregation – some parts of the others -, we have liked the diversity that exists, we have gone beyond the borders of the Province itself and we have encouraged ourselves to continue as Daughters of Jesus in mission.
