It is a joy to see the seal of the Global Education Pact (GEP)<\/strong> on the schools in the Dominican Republic run by the Daughters of Jesus. We have been informed of the addition of four new schools: Escuela Virgen del Carmen, in La Ci\u00e9naga, Santo Domingo; Escuela Laboral La Inmaculada, in Cotu\u00ed; Escuela Laboral Virgen de las Mercedes and Escuela T\u00e9cnica San Mart\u00edn de Porres, in Santiago de los Caballeros<\/strong>. Half of “our” schools in the world are already on this path.<\/p>\n\n

The PEG highlights these seven needs of our world:<\/p>\n\n

  1. To put the person at the center<\/strong>, to bring out his or her specificity.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Listening to the voice of children, listening to the younger generation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Full participation of girls and young women, promoting women<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Making the family, the primary educator<\/strong>, responsible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. To be open to welcome, to open ourselves to the most vulnerable<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Renewing the economy and politics, educating for another development model<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Caring for the common home<\/strong>, protecting its resources and respecting the environment.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n
