And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>Today Holy Monday with Jesus and together with Him, we become witnesses of the boundlessness of love that the Gospel gives us with this woman, Mary. Out of pure gratitude, she &#8220;took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus\u2019 feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n<p><strong><em>Are you grateful? Does gratitude move you to a love without measure? <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Anointing at Bethany<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n<p><sub>1 <\/sub>Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus lived, whom Jesus had raised from the dead. <sub>2<\/sub> Here a dinner was given in Jesus\u2019 honor. Martha served, while Lazarus was among those reclining at the table with him.<sub> 3<\/sub> Then Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus\u2019 feet and wiped his feet with her hair. And the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.<br\/><sub>4 <\/sub>But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, <sub>5<\/sub> \u201cWhy wasn\u2019t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year\u2019s wages.\u201d<sub> 6 <\/sub>He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.<br\/><sub>7<\/sub> \u201cLeave her alone,\u201d Jesus replied. \u201cIt was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial.<sub> 8<\/sub> You will always have the poor among you,but you will not always have me.\u201d<br\/><sub>9 <\/sub>Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. <sub>10 <\/sub>So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, <sub>11<\/sub> for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><strong><em>(John 12:1-11)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mary took about a pint of pure nard, an expensive perfume; she poured it on Jesus\u2019 feet and wiped his feet with her hair.
