The Daughters of Jesus continue to move towards the celebration of the XIX General Congregation (GC XIX). Already in her circular letter No. 44, dated February 3, 2025, the Superior General, Graciela Francovig, announced the names of the sisters who will work with her, as the Official Preparatory Commission (OPC), in the most immediate preparation for General Congregation XIX.
These sisters are:
- Dayse Marianela Agretti
- Raquel Amigot Goyena
- Emelinda Falsis Correa
- Altagracia Gonzalez Ventura (Iris)
The PCO began its work on March 10 at the General House. Its competencies are described in Nº16 of the Rules of Procedure of the General Congregation, these are:
- Select and order the postulates presented by the Provincial Congregations to the General Congregation and the personal postulates sent directly to the General Congregation, according to the conditions and deadlines for their presentation. Synthesize them, if necessary, preserving their content.
- Order and synthesize, if necessary, the responses of the Provincial Congregations to other matters proposed by the General or Provincial Superiors.
- Prepare, if necessary, preliminary reports on the topics likely to be discussed by the General Congregation, preparing material from postulates and other programmed matters.
- To elaborate the work norms and study organizational and informative aspects that the Superior General may wish to entrust to her.
The PCO also makes the proposal for the way of working and seeks that this be in a dynamic of discernment. From this perspective, the PCO also discerns what is the best method and dynamic in concrete terms for this XIX General Congregation and it is the one that proposes this method and dynamic of work.
The Superior General and the sisters of the Official Preparatory Commission began this time of work with a heartfelt moment of prayer in the Chambers of St. Ignatius, a significant place for the Daughters of Jesus. Through this gesture they have entrusted their work and wish to live with openness and spirit of discernment the task ahead of them.
We invite everyone to pray for the work of the PCO, asking for the fruits of its labor in preparation for General Congregation XIX.
