On Monday, April 21, we began the General Congregation XIX. It is a time of Easter, a time of consolation, a time of searching together and discernment in common.
GC XIX is a gift and a responsibility.
We share some of the words Graciela Francovig, our Superior General, has addressed us during the start of the GC:
“We are coming from a 153-year-old history, a history of women who responded faithfully in their time, and now it is our responsibility to care for our spiritual heritage by adapting it to our times, places and people.”
In which direction is religious life heading? What do you ask of us, Lord, now? What can our charism offer the world? What cries, hopes, yearnings do we discover?
We are living our GC XIX in the context of the “Jubilee of Hope”. The world needs women who are hopeful, reconciled, joyful… women committed to creating safe spaces which preserve human integrity and dignity.
We need to discern together to manifest what God inspires us to do.
We need silence, listening, willingness to be different, abnegation of ourselves so that a “we” may emerge.
We are sent to bring Jesus to the world.”
