Transmittal of GC XIX Determination – Brazil-Caribbean Province

Oct 27, 2025 | Brazil, Brazil-Caribbean, CG XIX, Cuba, Dominican Republic, News, NewsCGXIX

The Brazil-Caribbean Province lived a time of profound grace and communion during the transmission of the Determination of the XIX General Congregation (GC XIX) in its two regions: the Caribbean Region, which includes the Dominican Republic and Cuba, and the Brazil Region, with its seven communities. In both territories, the sisters welcomed the Determination with openness, fraternity and joy, guided by those who participated in Rome, who shared their experiences with enthusiasm and clarity.

In the Caribbean Region, on June 22 and 23, 2025, the sisters of the Dominican Republic gathered at the Polytechnic of Our Lady of Mercy, accompanied by Sonia Maria Soares, Altagracia Ventura and Arisleida Maria Rincon, to live the transmission in an atmosphere of attentive listening and committed participation. Through prayerful reading, personal reflection and community dialogue, the participants deepened their understanding of filiation and fraternity, realizing that the call of GC XIX is not limited to complying with norms, but to recreate being daughters and sisters and to live the mission with authenticity and dedication. Later, Arisleida María Rincón took the same transmission to the sisters of Cuba, strengthening communion and hope throughout the Caribbean region.

In the Brazil Region, the transmission took place in two parts: on July 25 at the Nazaré House (infirmary) for the older sisters, with a flexible schedule that allowed almost everyone to participate, and on July 26 and 27 at the Casa Santíssima Trindade, in Belo Horizonte, with the participation of 38 sisters from all the communities. The sisters from Brazil who attended in Rome – Sonia Maria Soares, Maria Inez Furtado and Leila Janaina – energized the meetings combining liturgy, prayer, reading of the text and work in groups, generating a space for deep reflection and dialogue on synodality, the newness of the Spirit and the meaning of the Determination for the provincial mission.

Each day allowed the sisters to internalize the call of the document, share experiences, recognize the importance of living the filiation and fraternity and express the desire to make concrete life what was proposed by the General Congregation. The closing was celebrated with a fraternization full of joy and spontaneity, which strengthened communion, motivation and commitment to live as true Daughters of Jesus.

The Brazil-Caribbean Province continues to move forward united in the transmission of GC XIX, radiating the joy of being Daughters of Jesus and responding faithfully to the call of the Congregation. Each community, in Brazil, Dominican Republic and Cuba, is ready to live the filiation and fraternity in every action and meeting, strengthening the shared mission and the charism of St. Candida Maria de Jesus with hope, openness and generosity in every corner of the world.
