As we all know, Venezuela is experiencing one of the worst natural disasters in its recent history. Two consecutive earthquakes, measuring 7.5 and 7.2 on the Richter scale, struck the country’s central and coastal regions just one minute apart, leaving behind collapsed buildings, damaged hospitals and shopping centers, and thousands of families who lost everything in a matter of seconds. Caracas and La Guaira are among the hardest-hit areas, and the numbers of dead, injured, and missing continue to rise as rescue efforts continue.
We, the Daughters of Jesus, cannot and will not remain indifferent to this suffering. Although we do not have religious communities in the country, we do maintain a presence in Venezuela through the “Familia Madre Cándida” Civil Association, which carries out various social projects—a fact that makes us feel this tragedy even more deeply, if that is possible. Today, more than ever, we unite in prayer and solidarity with the Venezuelan people, with those searching for their loved ones amid the rubble, and with those who have lost their homes.
We pray for Venezuela
We join together in prayer and invite you to join us with faith and compassion:
Our Father, Good Father, You who are our strength in adversity, help us.
At this time of anguish and grief,
We pray for our brothers and sisters in Venezuela.
May all those affected by the earthquake feel your support in the midst of this disaster, and
receive the assistance and care they need.
Embrace them with your mercy, love, and kindness.
Welcome the souls of those who have passed away, bring comfort to those who are hurting or mourning a loved one, and give strength to those who are helping.
Ease our anxieties and make our faith grow ever stronger.
Thank you because we can always trust you, “Father who cares for us all.”
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Action and Contemplation
But prayer, to be faithful to the Gospel, cannot remain merely words: it must be translated into concrete actions. In the face of so much suffering, it is not enough to simply feel compassion; we must provide real, effective responses that reach those who need everything today. That is why we want to join in and raise awareness of the emergency campaign that FASFI has launched to respond to this serious humanitarian crisis.
FASFI, which has an active project in Venezuela, is in constant contact with those in charge on the ground and is already working to coordinate the most urgent aid. That is why we invite you to get involved and share this campaign, so that together we can join forces and make a greater impact.

May our prayer become a gesture, and our gesture, hope for Venezuela.
