As we begin Advent 2025, we want to offer a space to allow ourselves to be touched by the Spirit and be ready to be born again (cf. Jn 3:4), just as Jesus invites Nicodemus and as the Spirit invites us today, in our own time, history and mission through the GCXXIX Determination.
This year we have prepared a series of publications that we will be sharing Sunday by Sunday. They are a simple proposal to deepen our filial identity in the key of Advent, from section I: Recreating our being, and the section: How to be born again? from the Determination of General Congregation XIX and the liturgy of this time. We believe that this liturgical season, which opens us to the deep desire for new life, is a privileged framework for approaching this congregational call.
An Advent that sets us on our way
For this journey, we have chosen the second readings from the liturgy of each Sunday of Advent as the guiding thread. In them we find concrete clues to the Christian lifestyle to which we are called: vigilance, openness of heart, sobriety, conversion, trust and active hope. We find a rich connection with the “filial rebirth”, that experience that invites us to allow ourselves to be recreated by God and to live from the depth of knowing that we are beloved daughters.
Everything comes together when we live in an attitude of listening: the Word, the Determination and the reality we inhabit speak to us from the same Spirit of God, who constantly recreates his work.
An open space
What we will share is not intended to be a closed reflection or a single possible interpretation. Rather, it is an invitation:
- to ask us questions,
- to activate desires,
- to allow ourselves to be questioned,
- to walk together as a Mother Candida family,
- to cultivate a gaze that brings us closer to what God is gestating in us and among us.
We want this Advent to find our hearts ready to be reborn, again and again, from the certainty of God’s love; a filial rebirth that truly recreates our being.
