“As for the sufferings, there will not cease to be; but I, with my crucified Jesus, trust to be victorious.”
St. Candida – Letter 143, May 1898
Day 2 of theTriduum in preparation for the feast of Mother Candida in the Jubilee of Hope
“I can do all things in him who comforts me.” – Philippians 4:13
On this second day, we discover that hope does not deny pain. Hope pierces through it. Mother Candida did not live without suffering. She knew the weight of difficulties, uncertainty, sickness, loneliness. But there, right there, she would say forcefully: “I, with my crucified Jesus, trust to emerge victorious.”
And so am I, Mother Candida. Because when everything seems to be sinking, there is a force that sustains. When pain appears, there is a light that does not go out: hope.
Today, that trust invites us to walk. We may not understand everything that happens, but we trust in a God who never abandons us. Coincidences cease to be coincidences and become dialogue, guidance and meaning.
We are invited to stop and ask ourselves:
What crosses am I wearing today?
Where can I find signs of hope in the midst of pain?
Go back to the heart of Mother Candida, her letters are a living testimony of hope. Read it in its entirety here:
