Day 4 | In the footsteps of Ignacio

Jul 29, 2025 | Andean America, News, Spain, Young FI, Youth

After traveling the Mother Candida Route, the FI Youth of America lived an intermediate day before continuing to Rome, towards the Jubilee, on this day they visited two very important places for the Ignatian spirituality and from this point FI Youth of Spain has also started the pilgrimage of hope.

Meeting with pilgrims from Spain

From this day on, the pilgrimage unites young IFs from America and young IFs from Spain, sharing the same spirit, the same horizon and the same hope.

The embrace, the shared prayer and the joy of the meeting made visible the universality of the charism, which unites the family of the Daughters of Jesus beyond borders and cultures.

Manresa and Montserrat: at the heart of Ignatian spirituality

FI youth from America and Spain visited two central places in the spiritual journey of St. Ignatius: Montserrat and Manresa. There, in silence and contemplation, they recalled the steps of Ignatius in his process of conversion and discernment.

In Montserrat, the group stopped before the Virgin Mary, symbol of trust, surrender and new life. It was a moment to place in her hands all that we have lived and will live.

In Manresa, where Ignatius spent months deepening his relationship with God, the young people connected with that inner dimension that Mother Candida also knew how to cultivate throughout her life. On the way back from Manresa they made a brief stop to take us to the church of Santa Maria del Mar where St. Ignatius, in one of its chapels, was begging for alms.

Badalona: starting point to Rome

The day ended in Badalona, the city from which the group will leave for Rome to experience together the Jubilee of Youth. There, with hearts full of names, faces, landscapes and memories, this pilgrimage of hope that crosses borders and unites continents continues.
