A determination for 6 years

June 3, 2022

In May 2019, General Congregation XVIII (GC XVIII) concluded and left us with a single Determination: “To follow closely Jesus Christ, who chose poverty for himself.” .

“GC XVIII, in giving us this Determination, wants to express the authentic desires to maintain the Body in its good being and to adapt it to what the present circumstancesof the world demand.” (Det. GC XVIII nº 2) What for? To manifest, with greater clarity, the goodness of God that we have experienced.

In these two years we have deepened the Determination from five keys: the Determination leads us to the Constitutions, in the light of the Word of God, from the perspective of Laudato Si’, illuminated by Ignatian spirituality and from the writings of the M. Foundress and Fr. Foundress and Fr. Herranz. And we have joyfully celebrated a Jubilee Year for the 150 years of life of the Congregation.

We Daughters of Jesus have the Determination in our hands and many lay people have had the opportunity to read it. Today we share it in phrases that we will be posting on Twitter and Facebook throughout this month in which the Church celebrates the Day of Consecrated Life (February 2, Feast of the Presentation of the Lord).

This publication is intended to be a thank you and a memory of GC XVIII, as well as an impulse that will continue to animate our life and mission during the remainder of the six-year period.
