Ascension of the Lord: Sent to announce Life and peace

May 16, 2026 | Liturgia – oración, News

We continue to move forward in this Easter season, allowing ourselves to be guided by the Risen One who has come to meet us, who has given us his peace and taught us to recognize his presence in the midst of life. The Risen One who becomes way, truth and life, a presence that accompanies and builds peace. Today we take a step further: Jesus sends us. Easter does not remain an interior experience, it becomes a shared mission.

Today’s Gospel (Mt 28:16-20) places us in that decisive moment in which Jesus entrusts his disciples with a universal task: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… And know that I am with you always, to the end of the age” . s It is a missionary sending and a promise: we do not go alone, he walks with us.

Jesus discovers that the center of his life is in God. Discovering God as the foundation is the source of an unexpected humanity. The personal experience of God will be the way to the manifestation of the highest humanity. The sending of Jesus is so that every person can live this.

Thus, the light of Easter invites us to look at the world with hope, even in the midst of pain.In his Easter message, Pope Leo XIV invited us to place our trust in Him: “To the Lord we entrust all hearts that suffer and await the true peace that only He can give. Let us trust in Him and open our hearts to Him! He alone makes all things new.”

From the General Government of the Daughters of Jesus, we receive an invitation that brings us down to earth: to be a presence that announces, that consoles and that brings peace where it is most needed.

Sent to be close

The mission that Jesus entrusts to us is neither distant nor abstract. It is profoundly concrete. It is a matter of going out, of approaching, of entering into the realities of others with respect and love.

Let us be women who, like Mary Magdalene, run to proclaim Life. The world needs witnesses who not only speak of Jesus, but who make present his way of loving, welcoming and reconciling.

Today, so many people live in the midst of conflicts, uncertainties and deep searches. Our mission is simple and demanding at the same time: to be there, to accompany, to listen, to support… and to trust that God is already at work in each heart.

Jesus not only sends us… He remains with us. And that presence is the strength that sustains every step, every word and every gesture of love that we sow along the way.

Prayer

Risen Jesus, thank you that you send us to be instruments of your peace in the world.
We entrust to you every war and every wounded heart.
May your peace come to us.
