Our school in Salamanca, awarded for raising awareness about internet risks

The “Colegio Sagrado Corazón” of the Daughters of Jesus of Salamanca has recently received one of the acknowledgments of the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos [AEPD, Spanish Data Protection Agency], awarded the communication prize ‘Data Protection 2016’ in the form of good practices in privacy and protection of data for a safe use of internet in schools.
Out of a total of 42 applications submitted, 11 in the Communication category, 8 in the Research category and 23 in the new category of good educational practices in privacy and data protection for a secure use of the internet, the jury – composed of the AEPD Advisory Council – has awarded the ex aequo main communication prize to journalist Carlos Enrique Carrasco, from the program Repor of RTVE, for the report ‘Las redes las carga el diablo’ [‘The devil loads the networks’] and the RTVE Corporation, for its digital education campaign carried out by the characters of ‘Big Band Clan’ and emitted in Clan TV, to promote a responsible use of Internet and the social networks among the youngest.
Regarding the new category of good educational practices in privacy and data protection for a safe use of the internet, the jury has awarded the prize in the form directed to public, concerted and private schools of Primary Education, Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate and Vocational Training, to the “Colegio Sagrado Corazón”, Daughters of Jesus, in Salamanca, for their ongoing work to raise awareness of the risks associated with the Internet and the use of new technologies.
