At this time when the Church is discerning the election of the new Pope, successor of Peter, whom Jesus, moved by love and mercy, called and sent on this mission, we ask the Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of those who are in conclave, so that they may choose and elect the person God wants, who is the one the Church and the world needs.
We pray intensely for this intention through the Church text by adapting the Eucharistic prayers to help us do so.
Lord, give us a heart of mercy in the face of the needs of the world, of the Church and of each person.
Inspire us with the gesture and the opportune word
in the face of a brother who is alone or who suffers for any reason.Help us to make ourselves available
to those who feel exploited, depressed, marginalized.May your Church, Lord, be a place
of truth and love, of freedom,
of justice and peace,
so that all may find in it
a reason to continue to hope.May the election of the new Pope be the fruit of the Spirit who has disposed each Cardinal
to an inner movement of indifference, right intention, and a search for the greater good.May the one who is elected lead the Church and all Christians
along the paths of the Gospel and Life for all.May we who seek you
know how to discern the signs of the times
and grow in fidelity to the Gospel.
May we be concerned to share in love the anxieties and sorrows,
the joys and hopes of all human beings,
and thus, show them your way of reconciliation, forgiveness, and peace.AMEN.
