St. James the Apostle and FI Youth: a pilgrimage that continues

Jul 25, 2025 | News, Young FI, Youth

Today, the feast of St. James the Apostle, patron of pilgrims, we want to look back at the paths traveled by FI Youth from the sharing of each of the provinces: interior and exterior journeys that have strengthened faith, awakened the desire to follow Jesus, brought to life the charism of Mother Candida and opened the heart to others.

We invite you to relive each of these pilgrimages of hope:

A broadening experience

This pilgrimage continues, since, from the morning of Wednesday, July 23 and until noon on July 25, the FI Youth from America began to gather in Madrid, the starting point for a new stage of the pilgrimage.

The first to arrive were Danna and Cristopher, from Bolivia. Then Fran, Monse, Julieta, Ling and Joaquin from Argentina joined them at different times. This group is part of the Andean America Province and is accompanied by M. Carmen Jimenez, fi. During these days they have stayed at the Colegio Mayor Berrospe, where they have been warmly welcomed by the community. Thank you for your hospitality!

On the morning of the 25th, accompanied by Naike fi, who will also participate as a companion for the whole experience, they left for the airport where they welcomed the enthusiastic group from the Brazil-Caribbean Province, the young people from the Dominican Republic, who arrived full of energy and joy.

In a beautiful gesture of closeness, several sisters from the Spain-Italy Province were present. María del Mar Domínguez, fi the new provincial superior, Rosa Espinosa, fi the former provincial superior and current general councilor, and Silvia Casado, fi provincial treasurer came to bid farewell to the group.

After hugs, photos and blessings, the group left for Salamanca, where they will begin the Route of Mother Candida: a spiritual experience that will prepare them interiorly to live the Jubilee of the Youth in Rome as authentic pilgrims of hope.

A pilgrimage that does not end

We accompany our young people with our trusting prayer, knowing that every step, every encounter, every silence will be a seed that God will make grow.

May they, like St. James, continue to walk with the “audacity of the heart,” with the certainty that the pilgrimage does not end in Rome, because every step makes the words of Mother Candida resound with force: “The world is small for my desires”.
