Esther Sanz, a Junior sister from the province of Spain-Italy, tells us about the meeting of Daughters of Jesus in initial formation that took place on September 4 within the activities of the 150th.
DISCERNMENT IN THE LIFE OF MOTHER CANDIDA
Mother Candida was a woman, deeply human, who opened herself deeply to God. From this encounter arose in her a way of being and acting in discernment because, above all, she felt urged to live like this.
This month Melba del Pilar Neris Guzmán is a Daughter of Jesus who, from Licey al Medio in Santiago de los Caballeros (Dominican Republic), tells us about discernment in our Foundress. As a curious fact, she tells us in one of the first paragraphs:
Both Mother Candida and S. Ignatius use the word discretion to express this essential and proper element of their charisms. Discretion speaks of “prudence and tact to judge and act” from God. That is, it implies the human and the spiritual, as the Dictionary of Ignatian Spirituality points out, “responds to a deep longing and responds to a real problem” since the aspiration is to seek and find the will of God for one’s own life, after putting in order what is humanly ambiguous.
