O amor de Deus por seu povo
From this Sunday’s first reading, we enter into the Pope’s Message for Lent 2024.
“Eu sou o Senhor, teu Deus, que te tirei do Egito, de um lugar de escravidão” Esse é o início do Decálogo dado a Moisés no Monte Sinai (Êxodo 20:2).
The people know well what Exodus God is talking about; the experience of slavery is still imprinted in their flesh. Receive the ten words of the conviviality in the desert as the path to freedom. We call them “commandments”, highlighting the power of love with which God educates his people.
The call for freedom is, in fact, a strong call. God educates his people to abandon slavery and to experience the passage from death to life. Like a son, he draws us back to himself and whispers words of love in our hearts.
Thinking and praying:
- Highlighting the power of love with which God educates his people. Read today’s first reading and be impressed by the love with which God speaks to Israel and asks them to have Him as their only God.
- Experiencing the passage from death to life. In which deaths do I live? For which lives is the Lord inviting me, Lord? When it is time to die, may I not despair, for the Lord is with me and takes me by the hand.
- He brings us back to Himself and whispers words of love in our hearts: “I am the Lord, His God…”. If I hear these words of love, will I be able to react as quickly as possible?
