On April 2, 1869, Mother Candida felt the inspiration to found the Congregation while praying before the altar of the Holy Family in the church of Rosarillo in Valladolid. She knew she wanted to do God’s will but did not know how. Here she found the answer: to found a new congregation, with the title Daughters of Jesus, dedicated to the salvation of souls through the education and instruction of children and youth.
She did so two years later in Salamanca.
Today, we invite you to take a look at Rosarillo.
April 2nd: breathe, contemplate, take a minute to go beyond these faces, their gestures, and open yourself to their silence and their messages.
Then, after listening to their silence and their messages, look at Mary and listen to how she says your name and how she adds: “The Daughter of Jesus”. And she offers you a garment, the garment of Christ: “those who grow in spirit and truly follow Christ our Lord love and desire intensely to put on the same garment of their Lord… for He is the way that leads men to life” (CFI 137).
