The canonical visit by Graciela Francovig, Superior General of the Daughters of Jesus, continues in Spain.
After visiting the communities and educational and apostolic ministries that keep Mother Candida’s charism alive in Salamanca, she continued her visit in Galicia.
From September 25 to 28, this region served as the venue for a gathering with the Daughters of Jesus community and the educational communities of A Coruña, Noia, and Vigo.
The journey from Salamanca to Vigo, accompanied by María del Carmen Álvarez, FI, the community’s superior, was also an opportunity to slowly immerse ourselves in a land that holds so much life and history for many Daughters of Jesus.
Visits to Schools
Hijas de Jesús School, in A Coruña
The first stop was at the Hijas de Jesús School in A Coruña. The principal, Juan Carlos Pérez, and the administration team warmly welcomed Graciela and Iris. Sharing a meal and touring the school gave them a sense of the dedication and enthusiasm with which each person carries out their educational mission.
María Asumpta School, in Noia
The second visit was to María Asumpta School in Noia. Although their late-afternoon arrival meant they were unable to meet with the students and all the teachers, Mónica López, the principal, and Susana Pais, the head of studies and coordinator of vocational training programs, took the opportunity to share the joys and challenges of daily life at the school.With enthusiasm and affection for the Daughters of Jesus, Mónica showed us the most significant areas of the school, highlighting the dedication of those who uphold its educational mission every day.
Miralba School, Vigo
On Monday morning, Miralba School in Vigo welcomed the Superior General with a warm and thoughtful reception. Ana Armada, the school’s principal, along with her administrative team, International Baccalaureate students, and several teachers, made the visitors feel right at home.
One of the most meaningful gestures came from a elementary school student, who gave Graciela a piece of a puzzle. This year, the puzzle is the symbol chosen by the school to express the importance of combining skills and bringing talents together.
Through this simple gesture, the Daughters of Jesus were also invited to feel like a key piece of that puzzle, in a mission that we all build together. The Superior General was also able to greet some students, gaining insight into school life and the people who give it meaning every day.
The Community: Gathering, Dialogue, and Shared Rest
The visit to Galicia has been a special time for the religious community. The sisters’ hospitality made it possible for these days to be a time of encounter and dialogue, as we shared our lives and our journey in the mission.
After the days of visits and personal conversations, there was also time for relaxation and fellowship. A peaceful boat ride along the estuary, ending in Cangas de Morrazo, made for a lovely afternoon spent enjoying the beauty of this region together.
Thus, through conversations, hospitality, and shared life, the canonical visit continues to offer an opportunity to listen, accompany, and renew the bonds that sustain the life of the Congregation.

From Salamanca to Galicia, Graciela Francovig’s visit reminds us of the importance of reaching out to each community and apostolic presence, recognizing the life that springs forth in everyday life, and expressing our gratitude for the dedication of so many people who, like the Mother Candida Family, make the educational and evangelizing mission possible.
We thank the Daughters of Jesus and the educational communities in A Coruña, Noia, and Vigo for their hospitality, willingness to help, and warmth during these past few days.
May the Lord continue to accompany us on this journey of encounter and discernment, and may Mary continue to guide our steps so that we may remain, wherever we are most needed, true Daughters of Jesus.
