In early September the Sisters of Mozambique celebrated the 10th anniversary of the opening of the “Escolinha Girassol” of Metoro, attended by children 3 to 5 years. This project was initiated by the parish because there were only two opportunities: a group of children who used to get together with a young man who guided them under a tree and an Italian manor offering financial aid for the construction and maintenance of an “escolinha” (little school). When the Daughters of Jesus came to Metoro in 2004, they began to work together to make this dream possible. Today we thank
the efforts of all those who collaborated and we are committed to a growth of this educational space so badly needed in this country. (The government only attends to children from the age of 6 years).
