The International Youth Pastoral Team shares this beautiful initiative that invites us, on the eve of Pentecost, to prepare our hearts, to encourage all of us, young and old, Daughters of Jesus and laity, to unite in prayer and in the family spirit that gathers us around the world. A simple but profoundly meaningful proposal, to which we can all join in order to continue to kindle and share together the fire of the Spirit.
This is your message:
One flame, one Spirit
Dear FI Youth:
50 days after Easter, the Church celebrates the feast of Pentecost. Jesus went to the Father, but he did not leave us alone. He promised us that he would send his Spirit who consoles us, defends us, guides us, gives us strength and wisdom for mission.
That same Spirit continues to call disciples to proclaim the Good News of Jesus so that it may continue to spread throughout the earth. “Go and make more disciples of me among all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Mother Candida was also chosen; and the FI Youth, inspired by her way of loving and serving Jesus, scattered throughout the world, are equally bearers of her presence in every gesture, word and decision, being light in the midst of darkness and
offering hope, especially to so many other young people who do not have it.
United in prayer and mission
“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in the same place. Suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a violent gust of wind and filled the whole house where they were gathered together. Then there appeared tongues like
of fire, which parted and rested on each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” . Acts 2:1-4
During these days, as we prepare for the great feast of the Spirit, the International Youth Ministry Team would like to invite you to do something very simple and very much our own: pray for each other and share in the FI Youth networks of your countries the photo that expresses the same flame of the Spirit that unites us and reminds us for whom it is our turn to pray, adding a short prayer.
The “international prayer network” goes like this: Bolivia prays for China; China for Thailand; Thailand prays for Colombia; Colombia for Japan; Japan prays for Italy; Italy for Mozambique; Mozambique prays for Spain, Spain for the Philippines; Philippines prays for Argentina; Argentina for Vietnam; Vietnam prays for Brazil; Brazil for Bangladesh; Bangladesh prays for Cuba; Cuba for Indonesia; Indonesia prays for Dominican R.; Dominican R. for Taiwan; and Taiwan prays for Bolivia.
Small gestures show the desire to ignite the world with the fire of the Spirit. That fire that they have been receiving along the way, united by the charism of Mother Candida. May other young people know that, regardless of language, culture or distance, we are still connected… and that we are still connected to each other. we pray for each other. And we dream together of going “to the end of the world in search of souls”.
May this week find us open, available and united, to be together one flame in the world.
We want other young people to know that, regardless of language, culture or distance, we pray for each other.
A flame that is shared
Pentecost reminds us that the Spirit is still at work today, bringing us together in diversity and sending us to be a presence of hope wherever we are. May this initiative help us to strengthen the bonds between FI Youth around the world and to renew together the desire to live joyfully the mission we have received, letting the fire of the Spirit continue to enkindle our hearts and our communities.
