Formation in synodality

Jun 12, 2022 | Church, News

A few months ago, many of us had the opportunity to take an online training organised by Boston College. It was the course “Discerning in desolate times” by Toni Catalá.

On this occasion, and on the same platform, the organising team of the Synod on Synodality is offering us a free online course, “Common discernment and decision-making in the Church”. It aims to support the formation of more than 100,000 people in the theology and practice of synodality.

It is an intercontinental and intercultural project. This is how Rafael Luciani, a Venezuelan layman and theologian who is a member of the team organising this formative experience, presents it.

It consists of “a series of free virtual courses to support all the people of God – bishops, priests, religious men and women, lay men and women – who have been called to this process of ecclesial renewal.

This event (The Synod on Synodality) represents a new stage in the life of the Church that invites us to generate processes of conversion and reform in order to build a synodal Church in this third millennium.

All the courses are completely free of charge and will be offered in several languages – Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, Italian. In addition, speakers from all continents will be taking part, giving us a global and intercultural vision of the Church.

The first course will take place in July 2022. Over a period of three weeks, different topics on common discernment and decision-making in the Church will be offered. We invite you to log in and get involved in the challenge of imagining and building the Church of the third millennium.
