Holy Wednesday: With Him, the path of trust

Apr 16, 2025 | fi, Liturgia – oración, PrayerCGXIX

“Truly I say to you, one of you will betray me.”

Today we see Jesus in the intimacy, friendship and trust of the Passover meal with his disciples. The trust of friends through which he comes to express: “Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me”. Today’s Gospel gives us the opportunity to ask ourselves: Is it me, Master? And let us reflect on how many times we have looked the other way when faced with situations of injustice or people in need for whatever reason.

Is there anything that makes you lose trust in others and put aside Jesus’ way of trust? Let us ask Jesus to go with Him on the path of trust.

Judas betrayal

14 Then one of the Twelve, named Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests15 and proposed to them:
-What will you give me if I hand him over to you?
They agreed on thirty pieces of silver.16 From that time on he was looking for an opportunity to hand him over.

17 On the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked him:
-Where do you want us to prepare the Passover meal for you?18 He answered them:
-Go into the city to someone and say to him, “The teacher says, ‘My time is near; I will keep the Passover with my disciples in your house.

20 When evening came, he sat at table with the Twelve.21 As they were eating, he said to them,
“Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.22 And they began to ask him, one by one,
“Is it I, Lord? “23 He answered,
“He who has dipped his hand in the well with me will betray me.24 This man is going away, as it is written about him; but woe to him by whom this man will be betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had never been born.25 Judas, the traitor, said to him,
“Is it I, Teacher?”
Jesus answered him,
“You said so.
