Letter No. 54 of the Superior General: on the day of Pentecost.

May 25, 2026 | Featured, fi, General government

On the Feast of Pentecost, we share with the entire congregational family of the Daughters of Jesus, an excerpt from Circular Letter No. 54 of our Superior General, Graciela Francovig, fi, which allows us to continue to deepen the experience of Pentecost.

The good news of the Resurrection.

During this time prior to the feast we are living today, we were invited to feel and taste the effects of consolation. The resurrection of the Lord has given us the good news that life triumphs over death. The texts of this week’s liturgy that we have prayed have offered us the profound farewell of Jesus and his legacy, his words, his sending. And the promise of the Holy Spirit who will make all things new in us.

The Acts of the Apostles tell us that, on the day of Pentecost, the disciples had the doors of their house closed, but when suddenly the Spirit enters the house to fill it with his breath, he opens doors and windows; he turns the house into a center of evangelizing activity. In transforming the house, he transforms above all the hearts of the disciples: they go out of the house in which they find themselves and do not hesitate to proclaim the Good News, revealing to those present the marvels accomplished in the work of salvation. They recognize in Christ, crucified and risen, the Savior who, through baptism, gives believers a new life. The moment of Pentecost marks for the apostles a total change. Not only are they freed from their fears, but they are animated by a dynamic impulse for the fulfillment of their mission. 1

This solemnity of the coming of the Holy Spirit is a very encouraging feast for us who wish to follow Jesus and be his presence in the world, carrying out the mission to which we have been sent.

Let us ask ourselves in this time where we are living many shipments in the body:

what is the opening I have so that the Holy Spirit can act in me and transform my life and the spaces to which I can be sent? Or do I continue with the closed doors without allowing the Spirit to break into my life today?

I invite all of you to ask these two questions and to dialogue with the Lord. Y let us allow the Spirit to do great things in us for the good of others. Let us not close the doors to their action!

He ends the letter by stating:

I leave the Congregation in Mary’s hands. I leave the appointments in the hands of the Father. I ask you to pray that the Spirit will show us the design he wants for the Congregation, I send each one of you a very strong embrace. I thank you for your prayers, your communications and, to many, your expression of joy for the new province that is being formed with the incorporation of Mozambique into IE, as expressed by your provincial superior. Continue to pray for us. Every day, the General Government prays for the whole Congregation.
