We share with the entire Mother Cándida family and anyone who visits this site an excerpt from Circular Letter No. 57 from our Superior General, Graciela Francovig, fi, addressed to all the Daughters of Jesus, in which, at the beginning of this month of September, she invites us to contemplate the suffering of our world and shares with us the life of the Congregation.
Contemplating the Suffering in Our World
As September begins, I am writing to you to share news about the Congregation. In some parts of the Congregation, we are starting the school year.
As this past month of August comes to a close, I cannot fail to mention the global situation we are experiencing, which at times leaves us perplexed: earthquakes in various parts of the world where we are present, situations where we have been affected, such as in Indonesia and Grenada; droughts; high temperatures that remind us of the global warming that is taking place; and the all-too-painful wars and forced migration… I mention here the delicate situation Spain is facing in Ceuta. It is a time, sisters, to contemplate the suffering of our world. And to ask ourselves, each one individually and perhaps also as a community:
And what about me? What is the Lord calling me to do in this situation? What can I do to help change this world, even just a little bit?
No gesture or action, no matter how small, goes unnoticed in this reality. I invite you to take an interest, to learn more, to pray for it, and to see what we can do to bring about good. Let us not remain indifferent in the face of so many situations: let us engage in serene contemplation, and the Lord will speak to our hearts.
Other Updates on the Life of the Corps
The letter goes on to report on some important developments in the Corps’ activities. First, the appointment of the new general secretary, Sr. María del Carmen Jiménez Correa: “I previously announced her appointment as general secretary (…) and now I would like to inform you that yesterday, the 8th, she began her duties as general secretary.”
Graciela also mentions the Meeting of Provincial Treasurers, Administrators, and Members of the International CAE, which is taking place from September 7 to 12: “From September 7 to 12, we are holding this much-needed and long-awaited meeting. We kicked it off on the afternoon of the 7th.”
Finally, she announces the start of the Final Probation: “This September will also mark the beginning of the Final Probation. The opening will take place on the 15th in San Sebastián, and from there they will begin the Mother Foundress’s pilgrimage. They will be in Rome starting on September 28.” She invites us to pray for these seven junior sisters as they joyfully and enthusiastically embark on this final stage of their formation, and to also pray for Magda Zang as the group’s instructor.
He ends the letter by stating:
At the end of my letter, I always ask for your prayers, including for the Community. There are many needs within the Community, and while there are other ways to address them, prayer is the most important. A warm embrace and in communion.
