Pilgrimage of “Manresa School” a five Holy Doors of Manila

November 2, 2016

In Misericordiae Vultus, Pope Francis proclaimed December 08, 2015 to November 20, 2016 as an Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy to direct our attention and actions on mercy so that we may become a more effective sign of the Father’s actions in our lives… A time when the witness of believers might grow stronger and more effective. He declared that the Holy Doors throughout the world will be opened during this Jubilee year so that all members of the church will have an opportunity to enter and experience the love of God who consoles, pardons, and instils hope.
In the Philippines, different Archdioceses also opened Holy Doors for our faithful pilgrims. It is a great opportunity for us Catholics to visit these Holy Doors for us to become closer with God and discovering “moment(s) of grace and spiritual renewal” (Misericordiae Vultus, 3).
As a Catholic institution, Manresa School Administrators organized a pilgrimage for all faculty and staff in five Holy Doors of the Archdiocese of Manila last October 22, 2016. Our route includes the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Makati City, Archdiocesan Shrine of the Divine Mercy,  Madaluyong City, Sanctuario De Santo Christo, San Juan City, Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila and the Parish of Our Lady of Sorrows in Pasay City.
Aside from gaining our pilgrims’ passports and certificates and obtaining indulgencies, we felt very grateful, fortunate and blessed to experience this graced-filled moment that strengthened more our connection with God and made us experience His love, boundless mercy and abiding presence.  May this pilgrimage enkindle our hearts more to continue spreading God’s mercy through our words and deeds. May we become more loving, merciful and compassionate to our other brothers and sisters especially to the lost, the last and least of society.
