A step that looks to the future with hope

In the context of the 30th anniversary of the beatification of St. Candida Maria de Jesus and Blessed Antonia Bandrés on May 12, the Superior General of the Daughters of Jesus, Graciela Francovig, has communicated a profoundly significant piece of news for the Congregation: the community of Mozambique has become part of the Spain-Italy Province.

Circular Letter No. 53 places us before a moment of gratitude, discernment and trust. It recalls how, over the last few years, there has been a growing desire to find a configuration that would help to better support and accompany the life and mission in Mozambique.

This step, the fruit of shared discernment, is intended to be a concrete expression of the congregational body, of communion and of availability to continue to make the Gospel present where it is most needed.

“Extending the tent”: a body that continues to grow

We receive this news with joy and hope. The Congregation, and specifically the Spain-Italy Province, continues to “spread its tent,” broadening its horizons and opening itself to new calls of the Spirit. The incorporation of Mozambique is a sign of a life that continues to sprout, of a Congregation that allows itself to be propelled towards new geographical, social and cultural frontiers.

In a time so often marked by uncertainty, this step speaks to us of audacity, mutual trust and a shared desire to continue building the future together. Something new is sprouting among us, and we want to acknowledge it with gratitude and humility.

The experience of Mozambique, marked by the generous dedication of so many sisters over the years, deeply enriches the whole Congregation and, from now on, in a more intense and concrete way the Spain-Italy Province. It is also an invitation to continue to live with creativity and passion our vocation as Daughters of Jesus today.

Gratitude for a story delivered

The letter also expresses special thanks to all the sisters who have passed through Mozambique and who have given part of their lives there, sustaining the mission and accompanying so many situations of fragility and hope. Their presence has been a sign of God’s care and of a simple and fruitful daily dedication.

We are particularly grateful for the generous dedication of Sister María de la O Martínez during these years of accompaniment as Delegate of the Superior General.

With St. Candida Maria de Jesus as protector of this new step, we continue to walk together, confident that the Lord continues to guide the history of our Congregation.

"Blessed be God who loves us so much!"
