Vicenta Guilarte was born in a small town in Burgos in 1879. She felt the call to enter as a novice in the Daughters of Jesus, where she met Mother Candida. Ten years later she left for the first mission she opened in Brazil, where she dedicated herself to teaching, helping and accompanying many people. When she was already a much loved person, she was sent to a new assignment. Another city, another job. She did not understand it, but she accepted it with faith and obedience.
In her new assignment she was dedicated to receiving visitors at the school, she was known as the “gatekeeper”. She was patient, serene and simple. Anyone who arrived was warmly welcomed. Especially the poor. She was home to many.
Mother Vincent, who exchanged her life as a teacher for obedience, became an educator par excellence. She made countless people of all ages know and feel loved by God and thus, love their brothers and sisters. The humble doorkeeper who transformed lives.
