A new school year is beginning in Spain, and with it, the Jesuitinas Educational Foundation (FEJ) is presenting the motto that will guide the entire educational community: “More sisters, more brothers.” As the Madre Cándida Family, we embrace this message because it speaks to something that goes far beyond the school calendar: a way of life.
A New Goal for Three School Years
This motto marks the beginning of a new educational journey for the 2026–2029 school years, with the goal of “discovering that being more human—today more than ever—means living in a spirit of fraternity: recognizing what unites us, transforming relationships, and leaving a mark of hope on the world.” The phrase that sums it up is “More Human Than Ever, ” and each academic year is represented by a different motto.
It follows the previous program, whose themes were: “Walk with Purpose,” “With You I Am , ” and “Open to the World, ” and which gradually expanded from personal care to care for relationships and care for all of creation.
From Affiliation to Brotherhood
The theme of this course, rooted in the verb “to discover (ourselves),” is an invitation to embody the core of our charism: the sonship that leads us to fraternity. In a fragmented world, one that often divides and dehumanizes, fraternity calls us to look beyond labels and recognize that what unites us is God’s love and the dignity of every person.
Schools break this down into three key findings:
- To discover one’s own identity under God’s loving gaze, through inner reflection, silence, and self-knowledge.
- Discovering others without labels, in inclusive classrooms where diversity is valued as a source of richness.
- To discover the power of what unites us through collaborative learning, dialogue, and a culture of peace.
In line with the Determination
This motto resonates in a special way with the journey the entire Congregation is undertaking. The 19th General Congregation invites us to go to the very root of our vocation: to be daughters. And whoever knows herself to be a daughter—or a son—beloved by the same Father, inevitably discovers that she has brothers and sisters.
This is Mother Candida’s path: knowing that she was deeply loved by God gave her the courage to view the entire world as her family and to “reveal the goodness of God, who makes us all brothers and sisters.” This sense of being God’s child does not remain confined to the heart; it becomes brotherhood and sisterhood, and it becomes education.
That is why this motto and “Determination” go hand in hand: as we, the communities of the Daughters of Jesus, delve deeper into what it means to be daughters (through the journey *On the Path to the Root of Our Vocation: Being Daughters*), our schools invite children, young people, teachers, staff, and families to live as brothers and sisters. It is the same root that bears fruit in our shared mission.
An Invitation to the Entire Madre Cándida Family
Although the school year doesn’t start at the same time everywhere, this motto speaks to us no matter where in the world we are: in a community, a mission, a parish, a youth group, or a house of formation. It encourages us to ask ourselves whom we are called to discover as a sister or brother, what labels prevent us from seeing them, and what unites us more than we realize.
The course rationale, poster, and playlist are available on the Jesuitinas Educational Foundation website and on the “Motto 26-27” site.
May “More Sisters, More Brothers” not be just a slogan for a course, but a way of being in the world: recognizing ourselves as daughters and sons of the same Father, sisters and brothers to all people.
