The International Union of Superiors General (UISG) has announced significant changes in its leadership. One of the names that stands out strongly is that of our Superior General, Graciela Francovig.
In an official communiqué issued by the UISG, it has been announced that Graciela will assume the position of Vice President of the UISG until the May 2025 Assembly . This appointment is a testimony to our Superior’s commitment, wisdom and dedication to religious life and her strong desire to serve the global religious community in an even more meaningful way.
The role of vice-president is of great importance, since this organization plays a fundamental role in the coordination and strengthening of congregations around the world. Graciela will carry with her the rich tradition of the Daughters of Jesus and her challenge for the “inter”: intercultural, intercongregational, intergenerational….
“I believe in a religious life that is becoming less and less, but perhaps we have the opportunity to live more of what is essential and to open ourselves to changes that will transform it to continue to be a life of the Gospel and a response to our world”.
The Sister Mary T. Barron, OLA Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of the Apostles, until now vice president of the UISG, is assuming the role of president.
We extend our gratitude and prayers to Sister Nadia Coppa, ASC for her dedication and service as president to date and we will accompany Graciela Francovig and Maria Barron in prayer as they lead the UISG in the coming years, guiding and strengthening religious life throughout the world.
