CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF RELIGIOUS LIFE OF ANTONIETA

August 19, 2016

Last August 8, the Daughters of Jesus in Mozambique celebrated in the mission of Metoro Antonieta’s 50 years of consecrated life. Affection, welcome, simplicity and feasting, gratitude for the gift of this our beloved sister, deeply identified with the people to whom she has given herself in service. We accompany the story of the sisters, her companions in the mission.
“I throw myself into your arms, Lord, and put my life in your hands;
Enough for me, your grace, your love is enough for me!”

Surely, this was the mantra that encouraged us in those days of preparation and celebration of the Golden Jubilee of Consecrated Life of our dear sister Raymunda Antonieta da Conceição.
Moved by gratitude, joy, excitement and simplicity, Antonieta drew all of us into this great celebration of thanksgiving to God for 50 years of consecration of life to the service of our brothers and sisters.
A beautiful party, in the great Mozambican style: flowers, songs, dances and the endearing joy of this people.

In the Church of the Mission of Metoro, during the Sunday Eucharist, prepared with love by the sisters and community teams and presided by Don Luis Fernando Lisboa, bishop of the Diocese of Pemba, we celebrated with Sister Antonieta her thanksgiving to God for so many blessings received throughout her 50 years of dedication, life and consecration — which “is not for those who want, but yes, for whom God grants it”, as expressed by her friend from this land.
We gathered, some 400 people, including community members, religious men and women, priests of the diocese, lay people and friends. After the celebration of the Eucharist, a fraternal lunch, followed by a cultural “sobremesa”, with the theatrical presentation of Mother Candida’s “Yes”, songs, poems, tributes, congratulations and sharing of the much awaited festival bun.
In the afternoon, a frugal time: we, the Daughters of Jesus, continued celebrating with Antonieta at our house, enjoying the presence of our provincial, Sr. Sônia Regina, admiring photos and videos, in a nice fraternal sharing, grateful and excited for everything we have experienced in this day of celebration.
For everything, we give thanks !!! Congratulations from the whole Congregation!!!
