Contemplate

Oct 25, 2016 | News, Social Justice

Contemplate this photo. It could be you or me. They are not going on an excursion; we cannot even say that they will enjoy. It cannot be seen but they are crying. They are Afghans, Eritreans and Sudanese. They lived in what is called the Calais ‘Jungle’, the huge refugee camp established along the French port nearest to the British shores. Yesterday a gigantic logistics, police and media operation began. Almost 1,300 agents, hundreds of journalists and dozens of French and UN officials surrounded more than 6,000 foreigners who will be distributed throughout France, waiting for their situation to be analyzed case by case.
Contemplate. Let us allow ourselves to be touched. Let us open the vision of the heart and of insight. Let us not be oblivious to this reality. Jesus is a refugee.
