FASFI Andalucia, working with Bangladesh and Haiti

October 26, 2016

On Saturday Oct. 22, the FASFI delegation in Andalucia organized the 5th Solidarity Lunch in Malaga, specifically in the farm school “Josefa Mancebo” in Cerralba, Pizarra (Malaga, Spain). Through this initiative FASFI has raised some of the funds required for continuing the project “Collaboration in maintaining the ‘Internado Sta. Candida Maria de Jesus’” in Bangladesh, which welcomes girls who come from 25 villages around Utrail and Birisiri, where they live in extreme poverty and need. Our collaboration is to support the board and lodging of 75 girls so they can attend school and study. Another part of the funds raised in Malaga will go to Haiti, where Hurricane Matthew swept the southwest coast of the country and part of the Dominican Republic and Cuba last October 4. Although its consequences are still being assessed, according to the latest United Nations reports more than 1.4 million people need humanitarian assistance in Haiti, representing 12.9% of the total population, and more than 61,000 people have been evacuated to temporary shelters.
