Indian Pacific Provincial Congregation ends

January 2, 2019

On December 29, the Provincial Congregation of the Indico-Pácifico Province came to an end.

We spent 9 days praying, reflecting on, sharing our life and that which has come to us through the material sent by the sisters and the contribution of the laity. We lived in an attitude of discernment, in a climate of family, of listening, of overcoming barriers of language and even culture, of openness to the “surprises” of God. To feel that, above all, the Lord unites us in the gift given to Mother Cándida, her charism.

In the morning we celebrated the Eucharist presided by Cardinal Luis Antonio (Chito) Tagle.

In the introduction it was said that this is a “time to thank the Holy Spirit for so many graces poured out during these days of the PC .. To thank each of those who have participated and those who have been elected as delegates to the General Congregation. To the Sisters of Japan, Bangladesh and the Philippines and to all those who have supported us with their prayers. During his homily Cardinal Tagle told us that “I do not know what issues you dealt with these days, but what matters is that in everything you do there is love.” Then he continued saying, “Only love can open our eyes to see Jesus, the light that lives in our midst. Only people who know how to love can see Jesus. We need to be like John the Baptist and Simeon who pointed out the ‘Light’ … they recognize it in their heart and point it out to the world. How do we discern light? Only a person who sees light can be linked to the light. The discernment of the mission requires a lot of light … People with hope are not discouraged by the darkness. . . Even in the dark, hope inspires the person to see the Light … Hope is led by the Holy Spirit. The hope that the Holy Spirit gives us allows us to look to the future.

A choir of young people from the Parish of the Immaculate Conception, in Santa Cruz, Manila accompanied us with their precious voices, which made us live the Eucharist more deeply.

After the mass we shared a small snack with all the participants.

In the afternoon we continued with the last sessions. Finally the Provincial Superior closed the Provincial Congregation.

The delegates to the General Congregation were elected on December 26 in the morning session. They are as follows: Leoly Quitorio, Patricia Aragón, Yolanda Brandolin and Felisa Molina. The following were elected as substitutes: Helen Catangcatang, Normida Marquez and Consolacion De Matos.
