“We are united by so many lives of the past and of the present, sustained by the wisdom of the Spirit of God. Women who intertwine experiences and paths, wise, courageous, the women of your people…”. (Song: “Women on the Way” by Ain Karem)
As indicated in Circular Letter No. 37 of the Superior General, from July 22-25, the Mozambique community met with the General Government in Rome to take time to listen, to prayerfully recall the road we have traveled together and to feel how God has been communicating himself to each one of us.
These were days of searching, an opportunity to revitalize the essence of our vocation as Daughters of Jesus and to feel in communion with the Body, looking to the future that we dream of with realism and the possibility of opening ourselves to new horizons.
We have maintained an atmosphere of prayer and discernment. Willing to listen to the voice of the Spirit passing through each sister. Aware of our vital moment and the process in which we find ourselves.

An underline that has marked the rhythm and dynamics of the joint search has been “may it not be an impediment, Lord, in this here and now”. With the invitation to pray “now is the time of grace” (2 Cor. 6:1-2), we have been finding small steps and signs in which, like those of Emmaus, we have experienced that the Lord is with us, walking at our side.
During these days of listening and dialogue, sharing life and mission with the General Government, from our presence in Africa, has helped us to broaden our vision and to realize that the Body is moving, is available and that we are in discernment. The words of Father Herranz to the first six Daughters of Jesus resounded with renewed confidence: “The work is not yours, it is God’s and He knows and knows the instruments He chooses.
At the end of the whole process, we can say that we have lived a deep, rich and unique experience of the Universal Body in Mission. For this reason, it comes from our hearts: THANK YOU! Thanks to the General Government for having convoked the whole community of Mozambique, for the commitment and care in the good being. Thanks to all the Daughters of Jesus who have passed through Mozambique and have left a path of hope. Thanks to the sisters of the Curia house and to all of you who accompanied this meeting with your prayers and closeness.
