Renewal course. Cochabamba 2016-17

December 18, 2016

After our experience of the eight days of Exercises (November 22-30) with Elvin Arias SJ we entered another stage of the renewal course.
This time a week, from December 6 to 10 with Gearóid Francisco Ó Conaire OFM to do a workshop on JUSTICE PEACE INTEGRATION OF THE CREATION: “THE LIVING AND PROMOTION OF GOOD RELATIONS (JPIC) WITH ONESELF, WITH OTHERS, WITH CREATION AND WITH GOD”
The course had an integrative approach. From an incarnated spirituality, the contents were deepened: justice and peace and integration of creation, Laudato Si, just relationships with God, with oneself, with others and with the whole creation. Some topics from the social doctrine of the Church. Causes and consequences of a capitalist-neoliberal economic model that only cares about monopolizing power and money. Characteristics of a JPIC animator
A spirituality that promotes an awareness about the God of Jesus: a Creator God, committed to history and life, who “pitched his tent among us” and dwells in our world. A spirituality that leaves aside nothing of the human, which considers everything that has to do with life.
A spirituality, which in the concrete and the everyday life, includes the fundamental relations from justice: with God, oneself, the others and creation.
A positive and encouraging spirituality, which integrates our body and our flesh, emotions, feelings and the importance of keeping in mind that we are interconnected beings.
A spirituality that values
– differentiation: “this differentiation is the process through which the universe sustains life”. “The network of life is built on a pyramid of diverse beings. No one knows to what extent the loss of diversity will lead to a major collapse of the system.”
– interiority: “every created subject is unique”, “this process of interiority indicates that each person is not only different from another being in the universe, but possesses his own spontaneity” and “Jesus’ humanity is the model by which all creation is shaped.”
– communion and interconnection: “acceptance of variety and diversity and the celebration of both is the key to harmony within the Universe.” To destroy any part of creation, or to destroy the human being is to wound our deepest being. “One of the most important tasks of our time is to promote relationships and heal divisions at all levels.”
In short, a spirituality that from the Gospel and the incarnate life of Jesus of Nazareth lays the groundwork for thinking about new ways of understanding politics, economics and relationships.
