The year 2025 will remain engraved in the memory of the Congregation of the Daughters of Jesus as a particularly intense time, marked by ecclesial and congregational events that invited us to deepen our faith, to walk together and to renew our availability to the Spirit.
God continues to lead his Church
The death of Pope Francis, on the very day of the Eucharist at the beginning of the XIX General Congregation, was unexpected news that left us with a grateful sorrow. We gave thanks to God for his dedicated life, his prophetic word and his evangelical closeness, which have left a profound mark on the Church and the world. In the midst of mourning, we also lived the time of discernment and prayer that culminated in the election of the new Pope, Leo XIV.
As Daughters of Jesus, we accompany this moment, entrusting the Church to the Holy Spirit and renewing our ecclesial communion, with the certainty that God continues to guide its history.
General Congregation XIX: time for listening and discernment
One of the major milestones of the year was the celebration of the XIX General Congregation. From the reflection and postulates of the communities and Provincial Congregations, the first steps of the Preparatory Commission, the arrival of the sisters in Rome, to the intense days of prayer, dialogue and discernment of the gathered sisters, we lived a true congregational kairos.
The re-election of Sister Graciela Francovig, FI, as Superior General and the appointment of the new General Councilors were received with gratitude and hope as a sign of continuity and renewal in the mission entrusted to us by the Lord.
At the conclusion of the General Congregation, each Province lived the Transmission of the GCXIX, and the Universal Congregation received the Determination, a document that gathers the conclusions and what the Spirit urges us to live today in our history, a true road map for the next six years, projecting a horizon of hope and renewal.
Among its central calls, it highlights filiation as an essential feature of our charismatic identity, inviting us to live vulnerability as a transforming force and to strengthen fraternity within the framework of a synodal Church. The Determination calls the entire Congregational Body to recreate its being and to encourage life, committing itself to the care of creation, the accompaniment of young people and their vocational discernment, the care of apostolic presences, to be an evangelizing presence in the peripheries of today’s world and to weave together the dream of the Charismatic Family ….
Training and loyalty.
Throughout this year 2025, we shared different news related to formation. Regarding initial formation, the English novitiate began in Manila, the novices in the Dominican Republic lived the month of the USA and we were able to learn a little more about the formation processes of the second stage juniors in Indico Pacifico and the international juniorate in Grenada.
This year 2025 was also a year of celebration and gratitude for the life given. With profound joy we gave thanks to God for the 50 years of consecration – golden wedding anniversary – of our sisters Pacita Legaspi Manuel (IP), Delia Padroso Dago (IP), Alicia Peruel Manon (IP), Teresa Tsu (AO), María Wu (AO), Ana Cantalapiedra (EI) and Sofía Contreras Sanfeliciano (EI), who, from different countries and cultures, have made of their yes a fruitful history at the service of the Kingdom of Jesus as Daughters of Jesus, We also celebrate the 100 years of life of our dear sisters Trinidad Domínguez Casado (IE) and Clotilde Rodríguez Gilpérez (AA), living witnesses of a fidelity sustained over time. Their lives are a grateful memory, encouragement for the present and hope for the future of the Congregation.
Jubilee of Hope: pilgrims of meaning and mission
The Jubilee of Hope ran through the year as a common thread. This ecclesial event extended throughout 2025 and was experienced in many ways in the different countries where we are present. As a Congregation, we joined this Jubilee experience from our local realities and, in a special way, we participated in the Youth Jubilee in Rome together with young FIs from various countries; and also in the Jubilee of Consecrated Life, which was joined by the General Government and the sisters of the Curia house. In each of these presences we renewed the certainty of being called to be missionaries of hope wherever we are sent.
All is gift and grace
As we close this year 2025, we offer a joyful thanksgiving for all that we have experienced. Every event, every encounter and every challenge has been a gift and a grace, a place where God has been writing our history. It has been a year of deep shared experience, of discernment and renewed sending. We continue to walk with confidence and joy, knowing that the Spirit precedes us, accompanies us and sustains our mission at the service of the Kingdom, today and always.
