We continue to walk in this Holy Week. After entering with Jesus on Palm Sunday , learning to love without calculation on Monday, allowing ourselves to be transformed in the truth of the heart on Tuesday, recognizing the call to rebuild bonds on Wednesday and discovering yesterday that to love is to servetoday the path leads us to the profound silence of the cross.
On the cross we contemplate a God who does not abandon human suffering. Jesus remains faithful to love even in darkness. He does not flee, he does not distance himself, he does not leave pain alone.
Even today, in our world, many people carry heavy crosses. And in the midst of this suffering, we believe that God is still present, that he does not shrink from human pain, that he continues to care for us even when all seems lost.
Today we are invited to hold our gaze, not to pass by in the face of suffering, to remain.
From this faith, we return to the heart of who we are: to believe that God is the Father who cares for all (GCXIX).
And we ask ourselves:
What pain of the world do I want to present to God today?
What crosses of the world do I need to look straight ahead, without looking away?
Perhaps today’s gesture is simple and profound: to dedicate a moment to pray for those who suffer, giving a name and a face to so many wounded lives.
And from there, we pray: Lord, teach us to take care of wounded life.
